Answer this, George, if you dare. If you get your wish, and all firearms were banned, how would you, George, if it were in your power, get them all collected? I don’t mean from law abiding citizens only, but from the criminals running around on our streets with stolen firearms.
Anyone who thinks stricter gun legislation is aimed at confiscating guns from criminals is missing the point entirely. The aim is to keep guns out of the hands of nutcases who become criminals when they go over the edge. Right now the system of "background checks" fails dismally due to privacy laws and the lack of cooperation/sharing of databases between the various law enforcement and medical agencies. It should not be a violation of privacy for a doctor to share the diagnosis of a mental condition, or police to share arrests or incidents of domestic violence, etc, with those agencies responsible for doing background checks regarding the application to purchase a firearm. The "right to life" of the general public should supersede any right of a nutcase to have his mental health information kept private so that he can enjoy his 2nd Amendment "fun k*****g spree."
