Patience is the primary ingredient in hummer photos because they are so fast.
My experience:
I use Shutter Priority mode, set my shutter speed at 1/4000 and my ISO to Auto.
In good light, this should keep your ISO at around 1000 or less. Any noise can be easily removed in post.
At this shutter speed, on my camera, I see the hummers moving in slow motion when I look through the viewfinder.

Very nice. Last fall l got a similar image only the hummers were farther apart
