A Pre-Raphaelite Portrait

This is Katie, hopefully processed as a pre-Raphaelite photograph might look. The movement adopted photography quite enthusiastically and used it for reference whilst painting, much as modern artists might. Several Victorian photographers, including the likes of Julia Margaret Cameron and Lewis Carroll are also seen as being associated with the pre-Raphaelite principals (although I don't think they always adopted them to the letter).

Your critique is welcome if have the time.

Mesmerizing and gorgeous, Dave. Thanks so much for the information about the history, also. Very enjoyable!

(I added a proper color-space version to your opening )

I’m pleased you like it Fran. Thank you for the compliment.
I got inspiration from a book entitled Victorian Giants, The Birth of Art photography. There are plenty of images within it plus biographies of Cameron, Carroll, Clementine Hawarden and Oscar Rejlander and it really is a worthwhile read - I found a cheap copy on eBay. It is worth looking around if anyone thinks of buying it, some sellers ask far too much!

Indeed Joe, she was lovely to photograph and had the pre-Raphaelite preference for red hair too. I’m not sure whether I’ve posted a shot of the three models together that we used that day, if not I’ll put one up. Thanks for commenting.

Love the look. I take it that it was not a one click wonder.
