Does anyone know if this lens will work on a Nikon D3000? The specs and info says functions may not work on some models, but isn't specific to what won't work on what models.

How do I get these kinds of questions answered before I spend a fortune?

If I take my body to a camera shop, will they let me try different lenes on my body before I purchase?

Thanks, Tom. I'm not able to spend that kind of money, but hopefully I can find something used that will be less expensive. I'm mostly concerned with auto mode. The old lens I'm using in a Nikor 55mm macro, but it was used for film cams and works on my digital, but only for manual. Because it doesn't have the electrical contacts (or whatever they are called) it doesn't record any of the meta data dealing with the lens.
