I've been asked to try to remove the dog from this photo as it is going to be used in an obituary. This is my mother in law. I cannot even begin to attempt this so if someone can help I will be forever greatful.

thank you in advance

Given her obvious affection for the dog, I think that the dog should be included. After all, an obituary is a reference to a living being; the pleasures of that person need not be wiped away.

Just my own thought, of course.

Here's my best shot of the lady without the dog.

I think it is fine as it is as it shows what kind of a person she was and it's a lovely picture which shows why she was smiling. I would just crop it to include the dog especially if it was her dog..

I agree, it is part of who she was and is in memory.

Nice work. Your good deed for the day.

I see you toned down that bright opening in the back too, nice.

What's the first thing everyone responds to? Oh, such a cute dog! Sorry, it's not about a puppy that anybody would find adorable.

If it was her dog and looks like it could have been then it was part of her life and if a funeral is celebrating her life the dog was part of it. I would love a picture of myself and my dog on an obituary picture because he is my best mate as I live on my own...
