http://www.gaeubodenmuseum.de/The "Gäubodenmuseum" is one of the most important Roman finds in Germany.
The facial helmets, leg-rails, and horse-heads, once buried in a cauldron,
form the largest known complex of Roman parades. However, the museum is also
distinguished by its excellent collection of exhibits from the Roman era.
"Sorviodurum" was an important military town on the racy Donaugrenze, and the
exhibition shows how, where and how the soldiers stationed here lived, what
they believed in, and how they worshiped their dead. But the area was inhabited
long before the Romans, so the Gäubodenmuseum, with its collections of 7,000 years
of human history, can present itself in a high quality. The chronology of the
exhibitions is from the Neolithic period and the early Bronze Age "Straubing culture"
to the Celtic period.
