We had to take a quick trip to Utah so I took the camera to get some of those beautiful Fall Colors shots. When we woke this is what we were greeted with. First snow.

Thank you. The camera is a Cannon T3i and I was using the 18 -55mm lens which came with it. I used Photomatix merging shots at -2,-1,0,1,2, then put it into PSE 10 using Topaz Adjust for the final detail. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to get snow shots this early. We don't see snow at our place until late December most times.

Thanks, I bet you don't see any, but I'm sure you see plenty of warm weather, which if I had my choice of the two I would prefer....Longer Riding and Photo Season for me  plus I would love to see Koala Bears and Kangaroos in the wild. Unless you're talking about Melbourne Florida then it would be Alligators.:P

I like what you've done with the snow: sometimes snow in HDR can get dirty looking if you don't control the blacks. You've done this. Love Winter shots-- but prefer warmer temps!

Thank you, I also prefer warm temps. I was having a very hard time with the first picture with the snow in the lower corner. It looked grey and flat so I had to do a layer mask in PSE with the tone-mapped layer and the 0 exposure to mask in the snow. I would never have thought of doing that if I hadn't watched some webinars from Trey Ratcliff.

Hi.

Like your snow shots as they have a lovely smooth quality but I can't advise with any experience whatsoever as I have never taken HDR shots of snow. You don't tend to get much snow where I live, tropical rain, massive hailstones but not snow. Probably prefer the fourth but it does have a major processing glitch which doesn't seem to have been picked up so far. Have a look at the large size version of the last pic. In the sky in the upper left quadrant you will see three faint tree branches, some light blobs and some bits of branches, all ghosted three times in a diagonal line. Something very weird has gone on with the processing. Would suggest that the pic is good enough to redo and would love to see repost.

Peter

 Somehow Peter I knew you would catch that! I didn't see it until I opened it up at work and I don't have access to my programs there.

Here's the original straight from the camera; see what I did; I wanted to get rid of that bit of tree in that corner, so I cloned it out in PSE. I was tired when I was working on it, plus I have a small screen to work with, and basically I didn't blow it up big enough to look at that corner.

So, I get to work, I look at the download version and see it...  Now I keep checking the thread as I wait for your post. Wondering, No; Knowing you will catch it.

I will work on a redo and try to post it tomorrow. Today we are headed to the Breeders Cup to bet on some ponies.....Yes, cameras going with me!
