The other day I watched a you tube tutorial and the presenter said that if you are using PS you should use a tablet(Wacom type) or you are making it hard on youself. Just wondering how many of you use a Wacom or other tablet on your photos?
I have an older tablet Wacom and I find the pen very hard to use. so every once in a while I get it out try it for a short while and then I put it away for a few months
I couldn't live without it. I admit it took a while to get used to:- about 30 seconds.
While I believe people when they say it is hard to use or they cannot get used to it, I don't understand as it is the most intuitive tool you could hope for.
For detailed processing, there is no substitute. You can do things with the pen and tablet that are close to impossible with the mouse.
Please post the YouTube address for the tutorial.
I don't use a mouse anymore. I have a Large and a small.
I would recommend the small. To much movement of the Arm required in the large. By zooming in PS you can work on the finest details with the small Wacom just fine. Bigger is not better in this case.
Wacom is about as much the industry standard as pocket wizards are for radio triggering.

I purchased a VisTablet from several months ago, in the hopes that it would be better with PSE than the mouse. I was pleased with the product using it almost exclusively in PSE.

It's amazing how similar my situation is to Joe's. Remarkable!
I just want to know how to pronounce Wacom. Those of us who live in countries other than the US will naturally pronounce it differently because the local pronounciation rules are different.
So I would assume you pronounce it like Whack-Em. How would a US English speaker pronounce it?

I have a WACOM Bamboo Pen & Touch, I am slowly getting used to it, it's great for editing! I haven't used my mouse for some time.
I used a Wacom tablet for years, but found them unreliable I now use a Trust slim line widescreen it's much bigger, half the price with no loss in quality
Hi,
I have one but very rarely use it. I guess it depends on the amount of editing you want to do. I
This ol' dog has a VisTablet but has not given it a chance to be a new trick. on my desk top, gathering dust among other things. My fault, not VisTablet.
PalePictures, I hate mooses, or mouses, or meses which ever, regardless of size, but not as much as the now defunct little lever in the middle of the laptop keyboards now replace by that crap called a touch pad!! Instead, I use a trackball. While my hand eye, finger control, may not be well coordinated, my thumb/track-ball coordination is great.
I have used the tablet for drawing a line on a photo but shall during the month of November give it a try. Hopefully it will not be a pre-new-years resolution that goes the way of new-years resolutions.
OK, I googled Dave Cross pen tablet & photoshop tutorials. There I found one that starts me off even points out habits to eliminate.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmGKvox_kSwAlso Wacom Tutorials are in the list. Hard to break old habits and harder still to form new ones without backsliding.
Have continued to watch ol' Dave,,, wow, a whole new world of different brushes and how to use them.... looks great Check it out.

To those regular Wacom users: since I use Lightroom for 90% of my PP and have CS5, but don't use it that often, would I benefit from a tablet?
Dave
BTW, I would pronounce it Way-com

Most folks I know pronounce it like Wock-em. And like the Captain said - couldn't live without it. I don't think I would even try to do any portrait retouching (for example) without it.
