I just discovered how well the Google app identifies plants. Click on the camera in the search bar, frame the subject, and press the button. I found it to be pretty accurate. It also may give a range of choices if it’s not sure so you can sort through to find the best fit. Works on critters too. It’s quite powerful.

I use https://identify.plantnet.org. It seems to give accurate results without a range of choices.

If one is on the iPhone or iPad, I also find the “info circle” in the ‘Photos’ app has a pretty good plant identifier contained within it.

I have an iPhone 13 and can’t find this feature. How do you access it? Thanks!

Go to the App Store, download the Google app. There’s a camera icon at the right side of the search bar. Click on that. The first time you use it it will ask to access your camera. Say yes. If it’s not sure it may give you several choices.

I use Leaf Snap to ID plants an flowers, and Picture Bird to ID birds.

WOW! I just learned something! Thanks for your info. Heading outside now, even though it’s HOT!

Depending on signal availability…the app Seek might be better choice as its evaluation is all done on device (I think).

Glad to share what I found by accident a month ago.

It’s there in my iPhone Photos app. I don’t recall doing anything to activate it within the “info” button in the app. I’m a horticulturist by training and I’ve tried testing it on less common plants. So far, so good.

My wife does this all the time with some phone app.

I have been using Seek from National Geographic a while, but Google app is awesome and quick. Thanks for that info
