I purchased a used DC-ZS200 and have several questions I have not been able to solve on google, the manual or White’s excellent book. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. It seems that hand movement takes a picture when positioning the camera. Happens frequently when I’ve just turned it on and getting ready to take photo.
2. Get a message in lower left of the screen that says return with a bent arrow to the left of that. Seem to have to shut off and start over to proceed.
With some cameras with touchscreens you can select the focus point by touching the screen and then trigger the shutter release by lifting your finger off of the screen. If your camera has that function it should be possible to switch it off.
Thanks for the suggestion!
The "Return Arrow" functions much the same as on any other camera. It backs you out of whatever selection screen youve activated. IIRC, that can include the extra strips of icons that "magically" emerge along the edges of the main area of the screen. I havent used my ZS for a loooong time but I certainly recall that the whole touch screen thing is just a nuisance and seems to have a mind of its own. However its rather feeble minded and indecisive :-(

The more I used it the less I liked it, but it does get good reviews. Just keep an honestly open mind and figger out which camp you find yourself in. Maybe I really expected too much ... but perhaps not. If it drives you nutz do NOT automatically blame yourself.
Thank you. I shut the touch screen off and now both my questions are answered.
