I passed through Billings 15 years ago on an guided elk hunt. We spent an afternoon in Billings and ended up in an old bar that was fascinating to me. It was made out of brick and was there in the 1870's. It had bullet pock marks in the brickwork that were tagged with a note of the date of who took that shot during a gunfight. Quite a few famous names associated with those tags. Makes me think a lot of those cowboy movies weren't too far from the truth. By the way the elk hunting scenery was spectacular, and I wasn't successful........BadDog

I have not been all that successful on my elk hunting trips either. I imagine it was rough in those early days. Fortunately, I don't remember back to the 1870s.
