Nude no. 260
As was discussed in a previous post (self portraits and kitty cat tails), here is a self portrait that I did just before the covid hit. It was on my boat and the sun was high (as was I). I used a timed shutter and weighed my tripod down with a plastic bag full of water so it would track the motion of the boat smoothly. No need, really, as the shutter speed was very high due to an abundance of photons that day.
Okay, Here I am. Judge me not to harshly.
(If this is received cordially, maybe I’ll post another??
You are in fine condition for an old fart.
Okay everyone, it’s not about me, it’s about the fine art of self portraits. And saying that, I wonder if we’ll see any more??

Unlike your usual work, and with all due respect, this one looks snapshot-like to me.

Can you explain the shadows. Given the sun high in the sky well behind the model, how did the shadows on the right thigh occur?
I don’t know you but I feel like this captures your personality perfectly! Love love love. Hope you post more and inspire others to do the same. 😊
It’s not a snapshot at all. Well planned and executed. My fault was that I added a digital sun in photoshop. Forgive me as it wasn’t my greatest judgement. The actual sun is, well y’all know where it is. Sorry to all. That is not my usual m.o. I was just messing around with this photo after I made it (in 2019) and it was the one I found today. I’ll post one as a remark without the fake sun.

You are a very brave man. I'm assuming the expansive hands gesture is in reference to the "size" of a fish you caught?

Thanks for clarifying, I had not thought of the faked sun. I was really doubting my observations.
I hope I am not being too critical, I assume other PP manipulation as well, if planned why cut off the model's legs?

No reason really. I just liked it this way. Other post editing amounts to a bit of hdr and contrast and shadow adjustments. It was so bright that there was really no color separation. Everything was kind of washed out. That’s why I did some hdr. The raw file was really in need of some work. Those refinements allow this shot to be seen, so I don’t feel bad about doing them. Hell, I do 10 times as much on my models routinely.
Thanks for the discussion, isn't that what this section is for?
"Posing" for self portraits has been a style of serious artists for centuries. It is also not easy to do well, possibly more so in photography than painting.

My wide spread arms are to embrace the sun and, really, all of nature. It’s a basic tenet of naturism.
Other than the sun / shadows comments, the cutoff below the knees bothers me a bit. For a sun worshiper, I think a backside shot, same pose with you facing the sun would have been a good variation.
