That is good for a 'short term' solution. The problem is that websites are ephemeral. They might last 20-50 years, but eventually they either die out or change format or in some other way become unusable. Even historical websites. I bookmarked several websites of historical interest in the '90s but I can't find them today.

This is not meant to discourage use of something like ancestry.com. It is just to point out that you need to pursue other solutions at the same time.
