Note: I espouse fully to the the philosophy that less is better, so the changes are not dramatic.

Every capture has a dominant color revealed by using average. This is not an issue usually, but if you want something extra, well, you need to get rid of it.

Using levels is the best tool for that, initially.

Original

The process is simple.

► Duplicate base layer
► Use filter average
► Select the probe
→ The probe size does not matter
→ Create a single point
→ As a name, Type the point values and the median value
► Dissociate the properties/info panel into two windows, you need both open
► Create a level adjustment layer
► Open a level adjustment layer

There are two methods from here
Method one:
► Use the black adjustment sliders to adjust to the median value.
► Leave the weakest color alone.
Result

This method will leave some of the tint. The weaker colors appear crisper.

Method two:
► Use the midrange sliders to adjust ALL the channels to the median value.
This method will remove the tint.
Result

► Remove the average layer visibility
► Check/uncheck the level layer visibility to see the difference

Final touch? Do not forget to use the selective color adjustment.

You can find the full size images here. Includes a quick color adjustment layer per method

Note: If you right-click on an image and open it in a new tab, you have the full size.
