Nature did the work, thank you nature I will make sure to give proper credit in the description.
I guess this and others of documents like it do not inspire.
Inspiration comes in many forms and venues.
I do not like a lot of manipulated work but know great effort went into manipulating the photo etc. and good for the person that did it. It is just not my thing.
Here is a second manipulated version, does this manipulation inspire more?
To some perhaps but not all.

Strictly as a picture, not otherwise categorized, I prefer number two.

Much of what I see on UHH is what I would call documentary photography, people documenting their travels and things that interest them. This is not meant as a criticism. It’s just my observation.
Rather than documentary photography I tend to think of much of the Photo Gallery as “snapshots”

Yea, there are a few "snapshots" in the gallery, but most are not snapshots.
And there are also some documentary shots there on occasion as well.
Pray tell, where are the "good shots" posted????
Perception.....

What else is there? Pretty much all of my photography for the last couple of years has been done while traveling around my ten acres, photographing my wife's botanicals, reflections in the ponds, details of plant parts, and details of random bits of everything, including the bathroom tiles and the bedroom floorboards; these are the things that "interest" me. What else would I shoot? What else would anyone shoot? And how is it "documentary"?
I've attached a couple of examples.

I’m pretty sure this is NOT the kind of stuff he was referring to as “documentary”. This is the kind of photography you want to display.

Thanks for the compliment; much appreciated.
They are, however, photographs of what "interests" me, which is how the OP characterized what he'd seen and labeled "documentary."

It does often seem to be viewing night at Uncle Bobs after he returns from his trip to Peoria. But almost no one except hardwired professionals take pictures of things which do not interest them. And while I am often harsh in my criticism, I also appreciate the approximately 2% that are truly interesting. Let's just not show any more pictures of Aunt Emma peering at the wonderful bargain on the table of the bazaar.
We could, each of us, add to the "...let's just not show any more pictures of Aunt Emma peering at the wonderful bargain on the table of the bazaar" list.
For some, no more images
1. of the same grand child
2. of a hovering hummingbird
3 or a focus stacked bug
4 or a barn
5 or a vintage car
6 or any car
7 or a close up of a flower blossom
8 or a black and white down a country path
9 or a mountain vista
10 or plane in flight
11 or the moon
12 or-----------
What I am trying to say is that what you find uninteresting might be what someone else enjoys viewing even someone's Aunt Emma. When I see something I'm not interested in, I merely skip over it. As far as my list, there are only two categories listed that I would skip over.
I don't post any pictures but I much prefer the forum allows people to post whatever they want.
As I have posted before, My thought is that Photography represents a continuum from Art to Science.
While most of my photography has been Available Light Documentary, I have learned to "Put my best foot forward"
and produce pleasing images providing a faithful representation of the original scene.
We did use dodging and spotting in film photography processing and did not agonize over it too much.
We could stop down the Enlarger Lens and tilt the paper to reduce keystone.
I feel that this same continuum exists in Digital Photography, further complicated by the amazing processing power available in modern Professional Digital Cameras AND the "FREE FILM" offered by Digital Storage.
We now have the luxury of bracketing our shots for many variables without running out of film or incurring processing cost later.
It is truly a wonderful time to follow the wonderful Art and Science of Photography.
A whole OTHER thought is the "Picture within the Picture"
Your processed image is totally at variance with the original BUT IS a work of ART.
We can also crop an original photograph into MULTIPLE images that are significantly at variance
without changing the original BUT providing totally different results.
It all falls under Artistic License for the Photographer as an Artist.

I would certainly hope that people do take pics of things that interest them...not much point otherwise...why would anyone bother to take pics of things of no interest to them...
