It's all explained in the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8udNOTFiqUs

St. Louis Cardinals reliever Ryan Helsley threw the fastest pitch in MLB in 2022. Against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Ryan Helsley struck out Ketel Marte with a 103.1 mph fastball.

Nice photo--that’s fast!

I seem to remember Bullet Bob Turley throwing over 100 mph years ago for the Yankees, and Ardos Chapman threw a record 105.1 more than once, both for the Reds and the Yankees.

The first MLB game I ever saw was a combined 3 hitter. The Diamondbacks great Randy Johnson was throwing 100+ all day long, and had a 2 hitter. Unfortunately, the opposing pitcher threw a no hitter. I thought it was boring, but all the next week long sportscasters were talking about that game.

It's boring to watch a game such as this during regular season play. If it's the seventh game of the World Series, more than epic!

Jacob DeGrom throws 102MPH but is always hurt. The body was not meant to do this.

He was the fastest! There are several ways of measuring the speed of a fastball, but a documentary on TV did an investigation, and Bob Feller was the fastest. We all know that there are ways to mislead people with numbers, but no one has thrown faster than Bob Feller.

You may have heard of NASCAR racer Fireball Roberts. He didn't get than name because of his fast car but his fast baseball.

Many years ago Rocky Colavito was in right field for the Detroit Rigers at the old Briggs Stadium. A ball was it into the right field corner. He fielded the ball and tried to get the runner out at third base. Unfortunately he threw the ball from the right field corner over third base, over the third base dugout and into the stands. A reporter at the time said if he did this from the pitching mound it would have been the fastest pitch ever. No one timed it but it was amazing. And I was there to see it!

The mechanics of the human arm would need some improvement to throw faster.....

I've often thought that a "no-hitter game" was misnamed for I watched one and some of the batters smashed the heck out of the ball and had the fielder not caught a ball as it was going over the fence, it would have been a home run. So, I believe that it should be changed to a "no baser".

A "no-hitter" should be exactly that. No batter hits the ball.

I used to think that, too. I guess if the hit doesn't accomplish anything, it doesn't count as a hit.

I recall that pitcher, Bullet Bob Turley. Google showed that he pitched from 1951 to 1963. I wonder what kind of measuring device they used back then? Were speed guns even invented then?

Then, also, why is a Foul Pole called a Foul Pole? ... instead of a Fair Pole?

Herb Score from the Cleveland Indians hit 100+ before he was hit by a come backer.
