Lately it seems to me that many posts stay active for several days while in the past they dropped off after a day. Other posts carry the label “rerun”. Is my observation correct? If so, why are those posts kept active?

My posts stay active apparently only until admin sees them.

They may drop off the main page, but they seems to be archived long term, judging by the number of 10-12 year old zombie threads that people have been resurrecting.
The threads get bumped down by new threads.
The original thread (post) may be kept forever?
I've noticed the same and have to weed through the daily postings to find those that are new.

There is undoubtedly some software algorithm maintained by the masters of our universe that determines how long a post stays up. It is not a simple matter of whether newer posts bump the old post. I have had posts stay up for anywhere from 5 minutes to four days. Some are taken down within minutes while others in that category stay up all day. Sometimes a post is pulled down and put back up the next day. So it may be based on number of views, number of responses, etc...

You are referring to the emailed daily digest.
For up-to-the-second newly posted topics, use "newest topics" located at top of every UHH page (first, subscribe to all sections that interest you by clicking on "all sections" at the bottom of any UHH page, and scrolling through the list). Topics are listed by
date/time posted - in a single, handy list - and have nothing to do with views, re-runs, amount of traffic or any other reason.
If you go to the first page of an individual section, the first at the top of the list is the one most recently commented in.
Posts "stay up" forever.

You must be referring to the emailed digest. See my reply to the OP above.

See my comments above. There's a very simple way to avoid the weeds!

There are 3496 pages of Main Discussion as I write this. If I click on "last" (I think that's a button under preferences in your profile), the first topic is from July 20, 2011:

It would be really helpful if where, under what conditions, the OP's observation was made......
With respect to.....
Good catch.

His trigger word was "rerun." There's no such thing except in the digest. Same with "upcoming topics"

I don't read the digest, so I wasn't cognizant.

Well put, LFM. 👏👏👏
Thank you; however, based on the number of incorrect replies in these twice-monthly topics on this same theme, nobody listens to me
