Many times images are sent to uhhers in jpeg config. which is fine except the exif data is unavailable. Is there a technique to get this data on jpegs. Thanks.

This can't be because they are jpegs. I have thousands of jpegs which I catalogue with Adobe Bridge and they all have Exif information attached. Similarly jpeg entries I have received as Competition Secretary at my photographic society. Do UHH remove it perhaps??
When viewing jpg photos, at least when posted here, I can, should I wish, view the EXIF data using a browser addon by Alan Raskin. This allows viewing the EXIF data without having to download the image and taking several more steps to get the information.
However, be aware of the fact that EXIF data can be removed prior to posting an image.

Jpgs are capable of including EXIF data. UHH strips off the EXIF data when you download an image UNLESS you click on 'store original'.
But as rmalarz notes, some postprocessing programs strip off the EXIF data on output. So not all jpgs will have EXIF data. Depends on how you save your file.
DF, I know Ps doesn't strip the EXIF data from jpg files. I keep that information for my reference but strip it prior to posting. The only time I leave the EXIF data is if needing to illustrate some aspect within that file.

Not all jpg's on UHH need a download in order to view exif. See my topic:
https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-738296-1.htmlIn using an exif viewer extension for Chrome browser, I found the data for that shot is viewable. See the tiny icon in upper left corner of the photo.
For photos where exif is not viewable on the "thumbnail," but when a download link is available, click the link and then use an extension for your favorite browser. That's the easiest way, and doesn't require downloading the photo to your computer.
Otherwise, as mentioned already, there are websites for exif viewing. Here's one:
https://www.metadata2go.comOr download the photo to your computer and open in one of several ways: right-click/get info/details, or use your editing software, etc.

Did a couple quick experiments. Took an old jpg with EXIF data and put it through IrfanView and reduced it to 1/4 the original linear dimensions. That made it small enough to fit onto a UHH page. Did an experimental post of both versions. The small one on UHH will show EXIF data. The large one has the EXIF data stripped off.
I infer that the UHH process of reducing the size of a photo to fit a UHH page strips off the EXIF data. If the photo will fit onto the page without resizing, it is used as is, with the EXIF data included.
I have used ExifViewer for Chrome for a few years now and find it useful. Not as complete as some but has the basics.
Being relatively new to Apple, I don't have an exif viewer extension for Safari.

Linda, thanks for sharing such a great site (
https://www.metadata2go.com) that shows so much exif data. I am amazed at the amount and the level of detail that it provides.
I am a Canon shooter so the only thing that is lacking for me is the shutter count, sigh. Regardless, I will keep this site in my back pocket for future use, because it makes me . . .

Yeah, she is. It almost makes up for the fact she thinks she is the boss of me
Linda, there's an old saying, cats don't have owners. They have staff.

I'm learning the hard way.
Apologies to the OP for continuing this hijack; however, I do think the exif data explanations and advice have been well covered.

If the person who has posted a jpg here - or anywhere - has stripped the EXIF data (not allowed it to be included), there is nothing for you to see, now or forever! - unless it is reposted somewhere with the EXIF data not removed. It's as simple as that!
