All good things come to those who wait. This is another drowning victim that I found in the dog's outdoor water bowl. Our temperature has been in the upper 90s and I noticed several insect visitors to the water bowl today. I changed the water several times today and was surprised to find this weevil and I brought it in for a focus stacking session.

Such a beautiful Weevil it deserves the name beginning with the capital W. However, it would be even greater if you would photograph it on an angle to include the antennae, then straighten it out in PS.

It is still a very beautiful weevil even with the antennae 'as is' and not only because of the color!

I save all your macros and this one is most beautiful!

Thanks, Canonclicker. It looks like it will be a rainy day so I'll be able to play indoors.

Thank Foathog. I staged this session with a reverse mounted 50mm enlarger lens mounted on extended bellows (out six inches) and set at f/5.6. The final number of images was 224 at 0.015mm distance each shot. Illumination was constant LED diffused through vellum tracing paper. The stack of images was processed in Zerene Stacker.

Thanks, Randave2001. These small critters take a bit to get staged. This one is about the size of a grain of rice.
