Why? It worked in Independence Day.

Ah, that's right! I have to remember to check the movies to see what will happen in real life.

In times of crisis people do work together, but it’s always just temporary. My sister lived in downtown Manhattan during 9/11. She said people were helpful for about two weeks, then it was over.
Sad but probably true.

I’m inclined to believe that Aliens stopped coming to our planet. I think the novelty of going to Earth for vacation has subsided. These aliens have realized this planet is a tourist trap.
Besides, they are having their photographs difficult to get developed at the Drug Store!

All kidding aside, we humans are simply incapable of comprehending the vastness of space and the universe. I chuckle when I hear people say there is no such thing as aliens. In essence, they're saying that we are the center of the universe.
The universe is made up of hundreds of billions of galaxies. Our galaxy, the Milky Way, is made up of hundreds of billions of stars, and is 100,000 light years across. When people look up at the sky to gaze at the Milky Way, most of them don't even realize that the earth is in the middle of the Milky Way itself. What we observe of the Milky Way up in the sky is also on either side of us and behind us.
Time that has past and is before us is measured in hundreds of billions of years. We can hardly comprehend 1,000 years. To say that there is no other intelligence in the universe more advanced than ours is absurd, and egotistical beyond measure. It's really just very naive. Why do they not openly communicate with us? Do we openly try to communicate with an amoeba cell? No, we simply observe.
Are there a lot of crackpots out there with crazy conspiracy theories? Of course. The greatest scientific minds in the world talk about the laws of physics, but who says the laws as we understand them are complete and all correct?
Ever since I was a seven year old kid and sat in the Hayden Planetarium in the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan, and looked up at the stars, I have longed to understand more about the universe. My hope is that some day I will see actual contact with other intelligent beings, but I fear time is running out for me.

It is my belief that some of us are working to find those life forms different from us. This may not be in our lifetime but we can make it happen in time.
