3 photos that remain favourites of mine for different reasons. The cheetah and handler epitomise power in check while waiting for "GO!" When the word did come the cheetah's instant, explosive acceleration down its 300 metre 'runway' drew gasps from the audience. Lake Vyrnwy in North Wales is a slide that captures the atmosphere that just a moderate wind can give to a picture.
Finally, Hanbury Church in Worcestershire, using negative film, shows Autumn at its soft & gentle best as a church slumbers amongst a blaze of colour in the sun.

Thank you for the lovely images, they are great, Lake Vyrnwy is a really great place to visit, to think the whole landscape is man made is staggering. My wife and I went for a stroll into the woods from a viewing point and came across the sculpture below, it really stunned me, sorry for the poor quality, but I hope to re-visit the place soon with more than my mobile phone :)

Interesting images, but why put up an image like #1 without going to the trouble to adjust the lighting to produce a much better picture? 30 seconds in PSE or any other decent post processing software.

A bit harsh, don't you think?

Sorry, new user, martin ej. I don't want to discourage you from posting. The pictures are interesting. But if UHH is not to just be a bulletinboard for snapshots, and if the posters are interested in improving their photography, then polite criticism is never inappropriate. Just a suggestion. If you don't have post processing software, UHH is a great source for suggestions. But if you do, please use it or state why you aren't using it.

Also, on pictures where you would like us to see the full detail, please click the little box that says "store original". I would love to see #3 in more detail. I like the interplay of fall colors.

I was about to agree with mdeman, but deciding I missed something, I went back and reread the orig. post...

"Lake Vyrnwy in North Wales is a slide that captures the atmosphere that just a moderate wind can give to a picture."
...and that spoke to me...but think I would forgo the "atmosphere" for P/P...I love this picture...I had no idea this was a "sport" anywhere...what great subject matter for a photo fiend....I also love the church photo, but I keep going back to the cheetah...Thanks for sharing, wish I could be there to see that event...camera in hand! :-D

About 50 feet I'd say, I intend to re visit at some point and I will get a person in the shot as well to bring some scale to the image, it really is an impressive thing to see.

Yes, I take your point about improving the lighting before posting the picture. The software is something I will have to invest in. The photo was taken quickly on a grey day using 30-year-old Olympus OM10. Film was Fujicolor iso 200. Lens was an Olympus/Zuiko 35-70mm set at 60mm and f11 at 1/125.
