I'd say that's a fairly simple lens, modern AF zooms with stabilisation will be much more complicated. The lenses I've stripped have probably been simpler (but I don't completely dismantle them so perhaps not) but I won't touch zooms or electronics.

It does make an interesting exhibit

I always photograph every step of disassembly...this way when I reassemble it I know exactly where I went wrong.

Smart! For years I did the same thing while repairing and overhauling the trucks and heavy equipment I was responsible for. I told all my mechanics they should have a camera in their tool box for the same reason. Of course, nowadays they all do. It's called a cellphone!
