I guess it's now official. The D7500 is the only remaining Nikon DX DSLR still for sale as new? My F lens adapters are much more valuable (to me) now than when I bought them.

I think the writing has been on the wall for a while now. Mirrorless cameras, electric cars...

I'm expecting delivery today of a used D500 that I bought from KEH. I bought a D7200 in 2012, and felt that it was time for upgraded technology.
The D500 has that upgraded tech with the added benefit (to me) of a "real-time" view-finder. The EFV cameras that I have used have a noticeable lag that I am just not happy with.
I understand the benefits of mirrorless, but that viewfinder...
Guess they'll have to pry my DSLR out of my cold, dead heads. :=)

There are plenty of "new" DSLRs still available, but they're just getting fewer and harder to find.

Yet, there are still some companies making "traditional" cameras. And maybe taking that concept a little bit too far...?

I just purchased a brand new D500 a couple months ago.

Apologies... the current stock of new ones is still being sold, but *manufacturing* of all but the D7500 and a couple of full-frame DSLRs has ended. According to the article I read, there are only about sixteen still being built industry-wide?

They are going to force us into mirrorless through attrition. I realize that's the way of the world - nothing lasts forever - but that doesn't mean I have to like it. My D500 will outlast me so I'm not worried about it for myself.

Representing one of the old farts I established the parameters of what I wanted to photograph, and then bought the equipment that would do the job, and a little more. All of the cameras and lens I bought in the last five years have been refurbished or thru UHH. 100% satisfaction.
No reason to buy new unless you are chasing the technology.

Possibly still rumors, but Tech Radar has been around for a while and they're saying it's an official announcement regarding the D3500 and D5600 and it's viral everywhere else as well. If you go to the Nikon USA website, the D500 is still 'back ordered' after months and the D500 and D7500 are the only two DX bodies there... so, who knows? You're safe for a while Paul, Canon still has several in production. 😎
