The East, West and South entrances may be open according to odd/even license plate numbers. Good deal if you have in park lodging.
The north end will not be accessible.
Still unfolding…

Odd/Even? That's almost comical. I can see guys out there with Sharpies.

In the late 70’s during the gas crisis, we did the odd/even plates for gas in Ct.
The events in the middle east more than quadrupled the price of oil, driven by OPEC and big oil companies, but most don’t seem to remember that.

I remember that well - early 1970s. Another Big Lie. "We're running out of oil!"

In 1971 I was stationed in Missouri and we dropped down as low as 17.9 for “regular.’
1973 and 1979 are quite memorable so far as volatility.

Do you have a better idea? If so I’m sure the NPS would like to hear it. Otherwise, just recognize that countless people have been working 24/7 since last Sunday on rescue activities and restoration plans.

You’re right. I just returned from a week in Yellowstone and Grand Teton so I’m likely overly sensitive to the issue. And worst of all, I’m engaging in the same activity that causes me to visit UHH only once or twice a week.
Thanks.

When did you leave? We’re scheduled to go Sept 28 for theoretically our last trip, but we’ll see.
After a soggy weekend in the north loop and OF Lodge, we left Monday morning 6/13 at about 8:30, found out when we got to GT that they closed YS 2-3 hrs later, and had been evacuating Roosevelt since Sunday afternoon.
If your September trip is mostly south loop AND you have an in-park reservation you should be able get in. My guess is that they’ll have the Tower-to-Canyon road cleared and open by then, but all bets are off for Mammoth-to-Cooke City for the rest of 2022. Follow YS on Instagram @yellowstonenps for updates. I already have reservations at Roosevelt for next June so will be watching.

We stay in a house overlooking the north gate and have friends there, one of which works for the gov’t in the park, so he’ll keep is informed. We spend most of our time in the Lamar region and the Buffalo Plateau area and are quite familiar with the park from Mammoth Springs to Cave Falls in the Bechler Area, the parks sixth unheard of entrance! Well, they do charge you to get in at the ranger station, but you’re not driving far! My first trip was in ‘64, but serious trips began in 2012 with stints of twelve to thirty days with hundreds of hours of study and preparation. In the Tetons we stay in Jackson or Moran.

I remember that. I remember having to get up very early in the am to go sit in line at the gas station. Some stations wouldn't let you get gas if you weren't one of their regular customers.
