An East Texas man asked deputies for protection after not paying for 825 grams of methamphetamine he got from a supplier, the Harrison County sheriff said Friday. Pedro Serrano was arrested Thursday afternoon a few minutes after asking for the help. Serrano, 32, faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, Harrison County Sheriff Brandon “BJ” Fletcher said in a department Facebook post.
“Law enforcement is a unique career, and every day is different, as this episode clearly shows,” the sheriff said in the Facebook post. “I am thankful these narcotics landed in our lap instead of the streets or lives of our community. “ The incident was reported about 2:40 p.m. Thursday, when a man later identified as Pedro Serrano arrived at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and claimed to be in danger.

One of my sons was an active addict for quite some time. Drugs affect their sense of reality and how they see things. Drugs will turn the smartest kids into regular idiots.

Fortunately he has been clean several years now, holds down a job and has gone back to school. Luckily for him it didn’t cause any permanent brain damage.

And all it took to get himself clean was to OD and kill himself. Literally. Fortunately for him his drug tramp girlfriend had some Narcan and knew CPR. He says that now he can look back and see how stupid all that was, but drugs blind you from the truth. It’s like the drugs have a sense of self preservation and do their best to keep you hooked until they kill you directly or indirectly.

First I'm so glad your son has made one of the hardest journeys there is. Thank goodness for that. My ex-wife just got released from prison after 5 years for basically being an addict. It will be interesting to see how she fairs. I never honestly understood addiction until her. Now I don't actually understand it I guess but do know it isn't just a simple don't do the drug type of solution. I personally feel that one the person has to really want to become clean for whatever reason and two that person needs a complete change in social circles and friends. I have lost several friends to drugs. Some young some not so young. I wish there was a simple answer but there is not. Congratulations on getting your son back from the arms of death. May he continue to be wiser and well on his new jorney.

So, The girlfriend saved his life, and to you, she's a drug tramp. I suppose she forced him into addiction against his will, too? Good call, Dad!

No, he was using before he met her. Her mother had already shot up and was passed out but not as in overdosed. The drug tramp had a small child (now taken away) she was neglecting. Even as a doper my son could see what was going on and tried to help her raise her child as right as was possible. My son was sent to the drug-alcohol rehabilitation prison twice. The second time he and his cell mate found that the drug tramp was girlfriend to both of them. And that any man associating with her ended up being busted by the cops and she always walked away free. Until recently, she’s now in prison.

Drug tramps never buy their own drugs, they trade “services “ for them, thus making the guy the “dealer-supplier “ who then goes to prison when they both get busted. That’s how the cops go to their residence over and over again but the chick never gets arrested because the “dealer “ takes the heat.

Do I appreciate the fact that she saved my son’s life? Most certainly. Did she have something to gain by doing so? Yes. As long as he was alive the law would never be notified. Try that with a corpse. The law shows up, he’s dead, she’s alive, momma was already passed out, meaning no free ride for her this time. Any time there’s a corpse, someone’s going to pay.

I’ve learned far more about drug addiction than I ever wanted to know. No offense Fred, but obvious know little about it.

Dr bob, I wish you, your ex and if you have kids, all the luck in the world. I’ve learned that certain personalities are more likely to become addicted than others. When the heart doc cracked my chest open, I expressed concern about using potentially addictive drugs. He said those concerned seldom become addicted, it’s the ones that aren’t concerned that do.

My son was in rehab six times but he said that he actually had to want to get clean before he could. He also found that practicing martial arts helped quell the urges. And that he had to break off all contact with his former associates. He said other druggies never help you stay clean but instead try to drag you back down. He said they don’t like seeing someone doing better than they are.

Let’s hope that your ex can find her way and stay clean. My son said that staying clean made him feel better about himself, which in turn made it easier to stay clean. Drugs suppress any feelings of self worth, thus becoming self perpetuating.

Good luck! Remember that an addict is always an addict even when staying clean. That’s why I hid my pain killers after getting out of the hospital. You don’t wave a pork chop in front of a starving dog and you don’t leave drugs in front of a clean addict.

Luckily, many criminals are so dumb that they actually catch themselves.

"Charles Ray Fuller must have been planning to get rich quick. Authorities said that the 21-year-old North Texas man was arrested last week for trying to cash a $360 billion dollar check, saying he wanted to start a record business. According to investigators, tellers at the Fort Worth bank were immediately suspicious - perhaps the 10 zeros on a personal check tipped them off....or it was that the check he stole from his girlfriend's grandmother had less than $100 in her bank account. Fuller, of suburban Crowley, was arrested on a forgery charge, police said. He was released after posting $3,750 bail."

Drugs and addiction we need to remember are 2 different things. A drug is nothing but a concoction of chemicals which can be used for good or bad. Addiction on the other hand is not only the abuse of the chemical concoction but can also include many things each of us are individually guilty of…. Alcohol, excess sugars for diabetics, excess food for obesity and gluttony, etc. Drugs not only changes one’s mind but attitudes toward illnesses do strange things also
None of us are innocent, we are all guilty of addiction one way or another.
