Tragic story. A friend of mine, with whom I had gone on photo hikes, recently passed away from knee surgery that went septic, plus he had aggressive bladder cancer. A year ago, he wanted to sell me his D7500 because he was going FX. I was not prepared to purchase it at the time. The D7500 was on my bucket list, a step up from my D5500. His girlfriend, after his passing, wanted to sell his equipment for which she had no use. So, I dug deep and bought the D850, AF Nikkor 24-120mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens, 28-200mm 1:3.5-5.6G ED lens, 50mm1:1.8 D lens, 35-70mm 1:33.4.5 lens ,24-85mm 1:2.8-4 D lens, a Speedlight SB-700, and other paraphernalia. I don't know much about these lenses, so if anybody can give me some information, I would appreciate it. Anyway, the total cost was less than the current price of a used D850 body.

Pure irony: When I attended his funeral, I tripped over a curb, fell and completely tore the rotator cuff in my right shoulder. Now, three months of physical therapy after my surgery, I have enough strength in that arm to raise the camera to my eye to take photos. I took these in my girlfriend's garden. The IQ is amazing to me.

So sorry for the loss of your friend but I'm sure he is happy you purchased his gear. Glad to hear you are getting better and can now put that gear to good use. Nice photos!!!

What a tragic story! Your friend is smiling with the thought that you are now caretaker of his equipment.
Hope the shoulder heals quickly and completely.
Looking forward to you posting many D850 photos in the future.
These shots are a great beginning.

Sorry for your loss.
The 850 is quite an amazing camera and will likely achieve legendary status like the D700.
I'm not too familiar with the lens line up- are they all full frame?

Don’t feel too bad about falling. One time a stray dog had my mom’s chicken down and I ran over to kick his butt. Messed up my sciatic nerve and took over a year to get better. How embarrassing, couldn’t even kick a dog’s butt.

The only lens I have of yours is the 50mm and love it for low light portrate work
The best information place that I've found for photography is Ken Rockwell unless you want to get into something really technical then he's not so good but a general good and the bad about a camera or lens I go to him. Give him a try.

Forgot to comment on the photos - Really nice I think you are going to get along with your camera and any one of the lens. When you paid for it were you wearing a mask? You should have because you stole it. Lucky, Lucky, Lucky

One of the things the D850 does is perfect focus stacking. There's lots of YouTube information out there, but for your type of images, it is a real plus.
