Lighting diamond jewelry

A friend of mine asked me to photograph some of the jewelry from his store. I have a Canon R6, EF 100mm lens/adaptor; RF 100-400mm; RF 24-105mm tripod and cable release. I plan to buy a light box with LED lights that also allows color temp control.

I would love to get the same look as you see in a Jewelry Store case with hints of sparkle. I don't want the diamonds to look flat, like paste or glass. What light(s) would be best to do this? Let's take a ring...should it be one light against a complimentary background or should it be lit from all sides. I don't mind buying a special bulb for this purpose but there's a lot of options to choose from. What do you recommend? Please share your "street smarts" and experience in taking up this task.

Thank you for your thoughts in advance,

Ron

If you want "hints of sparkle", you might want to buy the appropriate filter.

I would look up "jewelry Photography". There are tones of youtube how-to videos on this subject.

Hi Ron.

I made some suggestions in your other thread in the main section. Here is a link in case you missed it.

https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/tpr?p=13214877&t=741909

There is anotere post further back in the same thread that you might want to read for more information.

If you are in need of more specific information you might, if possible, make a few shots based on this information, that's if you can get a few pieces of the jewelry, and post them in this section. If I can see what you are doing, I may be abe to walk you through the drill.

The specific approach will depen on what your friend expects as to layout, background, usage etc.

Let me know what equipment you have at your disposal. And. to what extent you can post-process or retouch the final shots.

Looking forward to your response!
