If you are referring to the bird to the left of the statue base in number 8, it's a bird.
The spot doesn't appear in any other shots.
If you are not referring to the bird, I see nothing that would indicate a dirty sensor.
But I don't pixel peep.

Thanks for pointing this out Bill.

As as young teenager I visited it waaaay back in late '50s. Impressive, and the view! Took the cog-wheel train up.

Thanks for commenting ad9mac. I wonder if todays teens would be impressed!

Take another look at number 3, just to the left of the head.
I thought I seen another image that had something going on in the same area.
What do ya think?

I got my magnifying glass out. Yup, a little biddy dot.
I think I wouldn't worry about it if it was mine.
But, whatever floats your boat,
or trips your breaker.

It's definitely an oil spot on the sensor since I saw it in some of the subsequent images which were post processed. The Nikon D7000 is a notorious oil spitter and I've had the sensor cleaned.

The black dot at the base of the statue in #8 is definitely a bird since you don't see it in #2 or in this image which is essentially the same one. The oil spot to the left and above the head is again visible and more prominent here. The only other thing I could think of is perhaps a drop of water on the lens. You can clearly see 2 birds to the right and slightly above the right hand.

Had to go look for that one too.

So glad I just enjoy the images for how I saw them.
I could waste so much time blowing each one up and looking for faults, but
I'd rather spend the time enjoying the view.

Thanks very much Bill. I really appreciate that, especially since this trip -taken in 2013 - was my first time using a DSLR. I must admit that I just enjoy the pictures myself and often don't see small defects. I do appreciate Tradio's pointing them out

Maybe something to keep an eye on?

My camera is 12 years old and I have yet to take a picture of a white sheet of paper and look for sensor dirt.
