Open the drive that you are trying to store the pics in by double clicking on its icon on your desktop.
When the window opens displaying the contents of the drive, drag your folder with the 1300 pics, into the open window and place them wherever you want them to be.

Are you moving the image files and the LR catalog? Are you moving your LR program to a new computer? Are you using LR or LR Classic? You may be on the verge of making a big mess.

If they've been imported into Lightroom…move them in the Library module within LR or else it will lose track of where it thinks the originals are. I don't know if LR actually moves them or just tells Windows/macOS to move them and updates it's catalog appropriately.

But…don't move them outside of LR or else you'll have to fix the mess of lost originals.

No to all… just some pix that quite a while back went in my laptop.. all my work has been on the desk too for long long time
Just wanted to take this pix on the laptop before I give it to my grand child and delete the the entire hard drive
I have made a folder for the pix, just wanted to move it to my separate backup drive…. By sliding the folder into the backup drive

If so then my troubles are solved

I HIGHLY recommend TeraCopy (freeware version sufficient) with verify turned on. With the expanded view, you can see what's going on, and it verifies the copy with checksums. I've used it everyday for over a decade...

Both windows and Mac versions available.

It sounds like you had some LR files that you processed on your laptop and other files processed on your desk top.
You can put the photo files any where (NOT NAS) and then have LR find them AFTER YOU HAVE IMPORTED THE LRCAT FILE FROM THE WORK YOU DID ON THE LAP TOP. Each separate install of the LR will have its on LRCAT unless you have somehow kept them mirrored on both machines.
I think the recommend process is to import the LRCAT into and merge it with the LRCAT on your desktop. Then when you go to find the files from the laptop in the desktop the LR will ask you if you want to find the files (they'll all have a question mark beside them)Just tell LR where the laptop file now reside.
Probably best to have all of the laptop files in a sub folder to the folder you have for you phot files on the desktop. Then you'll only have to do the find once.
Thewe thoughts apply to LR Classic. Can't speak to LR in the cloud. Remember the LRCAT contains ALL of the info for any edits you have done on an image.
