Shoot in JPEG on your Nikon camera and transfer the JPEGs to the phone. You can download apps to the Samsung to edit RAW files created by the phone's camera, but not RAW files from other cameras. If an Adobe subscriber, see if LR mobile is possible on the phone, Adobe says you need a phone running Android 8.x or newer for LR Mobile. See if Nikon has an app for the Samsung phone that transfers and displays (possibly edits) the NEF RAW files.

Samsung RAW files are in the dng format so that is what it is programmed to recognize. You would have to find a codec for the Samsung that will read nef files. I'm not sure that they even make codecs for phones since I've never searched for any. I know that Nikon has a codec download for Windows, so you may want to look there first to see if they have one for smart phones.

Please clarify. Are you saying that your phone can already display images from Nikon NEF files ?

BTW were these photos shot as only NEF, or are they NEF+jpeg ?

Thank you.

You will need to convert the NEF to jpg format to load onto your Samsung galaxy. I have done this with NEF files when I had not shot a jpg copy at same time as NEF. I copy the files to my PC, pick the ones I want to keep and show on phone and convert the NEF to JPG and then transfer back to the phone. The beauty of doing it this way is you can post process the NEF on your PC and then have a better/finished quality photo on your phone when you transfer it back.

So if you can see the NEF? What is the question or problem? If you are asking "How" the phone specifically sees NEF? It is through a codec built into the phone.

My phone also displays nef files. It's an One plus N10. Running the latest Android version. So it must be backed into Android

OK. Thanks. So many previous replies are barking up the wrong tree ... Seems that Samsung(?) sees some extra sales in convenience to Nikon users. I wonder if they also have the codes for the other two major brands.

FYI just in case you never looked at the retouch menu, your Z6 will process NEF to jpeg in-camera, with verrrry minor PP available as well.
