I didn't use the Spider Holster and will be interested to hear opinions on it.
I only used Peak Capture - I think I have version 1, not sure what is different. I like it but it does have some issues for me. Depending on the backpack it can be too narrow for wide shoulder straps and depending on the straps padding it may be difficult to attach it (the screws are too short). That limited for me how high on the strap I could put it - on some backpacks I had to move it lower than I wanted. Also the locking/unlocking pin might be difficult to turn with sweaty hands. I hope version 3 is better.
I have the Spider. Best piece of equipment I bought. I hate having a camera around my neck.
Hands free is the way to go. And I love the extra security of it, the camera stays & doesn’t come loose.
I would serious look at the cotton carrier line of products
This was recently discussed on UHH. IMHO the peak (Version 3) is better:the camera on the backpack strap hangs away from the midline . especially for me (short) a camera - especially longlens) obstructs view of your feet anywhere you step. The V3 is narrower, smoother than the V2 (i never had V1 but it seems as wide as V2)- I have had problems hurting myself even with the V3 with the hand screws when taking off the backpack: both with the hand screws as well as with the machine screws as i tuned them so tight that the ends were sticking out. With the machine screws and avoiding too tight its is much better. The other advantage is: the peak design foot on the camera also fits directly on my tripod with gimbal, my monopod without having to unscrew. If you use the Cotton carrier orspide, you have to use their special camera foot attachment that has no other use.
Many thanks for everyone’s thoughts. More to ponder and consider prior to buying
