I am starting to take some micro pictures, and I would appreciate any tips regarding the extensions tubes. I will be using the canon 5D IV and the 100mm F2.8 lens. Thank you in advance for your help.
thats how i started, start with just one of the tubes.which ever one your comfortable with ansd work up to all 3.always try to brace on something, fence, wall, tree anything.good luck
The lens is presumably Canon's macro lens which goes to 1:1 magnification. If you haven't already done so, start with just the lens and work in extension tubes later. What they do is let you focus even closer.
L started with extension tubes set , got a 90mm micro lens , using the 20 mm tube that come with the set of 3 , and a older 70 / 210 nikon older lens does best for closeup . You are not too close to your subject , so it does not get scared .with the micro lens you are inches away , so , no picture . The extension tube set , let you use different lenses , until you find the one that work best . I got the meike brand , around $ 50 , and nothing wrong with it , well made , has all electrical connections .it come with a 12 20 36 piece .Do a you tube on how to use extension tubes .
Gabyto, there are two basic types of extension tubes which are AF (autofocus) and non-AF. The non-AF are less expensive, however, they do not transmit any of the lens information to the camera so they are intended for a manual operation which most macro photography uses for subjects like insects that tend to move about and focus is performed by "rocking" forward and back to get that ever so shallow point of focus where you want it to be.
I started with an inexpensive set of extension tubes mounted on a 180mm prime lens for my walkabouts.
A word of caution....macro photography is highly addictive with no known cure...regardless of how much money is spent on it.
