Thank you, sgt hop, and thank you for your service. Unfortunately, too many in in this country have forgotten, never learned about, or just don't care about the sacrifices of those who gave so much to provide them a free and safe homeland. My father served in WWII as a tail gunner in a B17. My brothers and I served during Viet Nam with the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps and we are all proud to be able serve our fellow Americans. America's failure to remember and cherish our warriors and protectors has been very destructive to our society and our place in the world. Once again, Sir, thank you for your service.

That's right June 6, 1944 was D-Day. Thanks to all the Americans (and Allied) who participated.
Many thanks to the greatest generation. They saved and gave us what we have today. Let’s hope it is not thrown away by this generation. People have had it to easy for to to long. Please, all, pray for this country.

In the UK this past weekend we have been celebrating the Queens platinum Jubilee, D Day was mentioned several times during the event and also yesterday, perhaps we in Britain were closer to the battles in Europe we remember the dates as they are closer to home.
My father came ashore in Normandie shortly after D-Day. His youngest brother was with the Big Red One, part of the Italian campaign with Patton. His oldest brother helped build the Burma Road, his second oldest brother served in North Africa. My father-in-law spent most of WW II in the Hawaiian Islands because of medical reasons. One uncle was a turret gunner above the cockpit of a B24 Liberator bomber, his aircraft survived the original Ploesti oil field raid. My oldest sister's father-in-law flew B24 Liberators. None of them ever talked about the war that I recall.

By the way, Author and Navy F14 Tomcat RIO and You Tube channel host has an interview with a 100 year-old B17 Pilot. It is excellent--just search Ward Carrol + 100 Year Old "Badass" B17 pilot gets you there. When they were attacking in large force, the aircraft in the lead had the Wing Ops Officer flying in the co-pilot' seat directing all the action. The co-pilot took the tail gunner's position and acted" as the force fire power director against interceptors. Brilliant idea, but with no Force wide radio connection to the other gunners, it was not so effective.
A strong dose of the greatest Generation!
