I have thousands upon thousands of various wildlife photos and I have decided to post one each day that I am in town to share with those of you who love wildlife.

I am pretty new that this photography thing, but I bowhunted for over 50 years and it did teach me how to get close to critters, and in wildlife photography I have learned that is a very important part to the equation if you want to a good photo.

So I hope some of you will enjoy these photos and I also encourage any of you who take wildlife photos to share some of yours or as many of your as you like on this thread. I always look forward to good wildlife pictures.

Have a good one and tune in each day for a new photo. BB

I will start this out with mule deer. The males are called bucks and female does and young are fawns.

Nice shots Bill, you've obviously used your stalking skills to get close to the animals. What lens did you use?

Thanks to everyone. Hopefully some of you will enjoy the different photos I plan to post. They will be from big critters to small critters and from birds and snakes to buffalo and sheep and a host everything I have shot in between.

Again thanks to all for looking and commenting.

I wish the best to all of you and especially to those on the east coast. I hope you faired well through that terrible storm.

Have a good one. BB

Yes, I encourage anyone to post any wildlife photo they might have taken. All mine will be from the intermountain area of North America and it would be good to see what others take all over the globe, so please post as it will add a lot to the thread.

Thanks to all for their interest. BB

Another critter we have quite a few of, in the region I live, are the Wapiti. That is the Indian name for elk.

They are a huge animal with the males weighing up to four times or more what most mule deer weigh. The males have antlers, which are shed in late Feb/March and grow back each year.

The males like pictured below are called bulls, the females are cows and the young of each year are calfs.

Thanks for looking and thanks for posting any of your local wildlife.

Have a great day BB

Around the area that I live, we only have black bears. They are pretty shy critters and normally pretty tough to see, as they prefer the dense timber and thick stuff.

In the spring, not long after hibernation, if your lucky, you can catch them out in the grassy areas, as that is about their only food source at that time of year.

A little farther north the grizzly bear finds its habitat. It seems to like the open areas far more than does the black bear. I happened to catch this one in a sage field digging for grubs.

Thanks Billy, I love your work. Here is a moose cow & calf, and a buck in velvet, taken in the Bighorn Mountains in northern Wyo.

Ace and others, thanks so much for your posts and your compliments. Your photos are great too. Let's see some more if you have them and I know there's got to be lots of folks out there that have some nice wildlife photos that others and myself would love to see. So post away.

I will promise to have a good one for you tomorrow.

Have a great day. BB
