Thanks. We don’t see these woodpeckers very often unless hiking in The long leaf pine forests here in Alabama. Their call is distinctive and when I heard it I started searching the woods behind my house and as luck would have it I found them

Great shots of my favorite Woody Woodpecker.
I had 2 fly by me the other day while checking cows. First I’ve ever seen in NE Texas. They were in courting behavior. Beautiful birds.
