The fact that most politicians have little to no gun knowledge is all the more reason reasonable gun owners should be at the table when gun laws are being discussed, but they refuse to come to the table, so if laws they see as abhorrent get passed, they have only themselves to blame. Sure doesn't sound like patriotism to me. There will be stricter gun laws passed. I'll not predict when, but it will happen. If gun owners won't come to the table they will probably h**e the results much more than if they do. When nobody will compromise democracy (highly modified or not) cannot survive.
