I would guess I am not the first to ask this.
I would like a basic beginner book for 13-15 year old grandchildren so they can have some understanding of the fundamentals.
Recommendations??? Many thanks in advance.

My "How To Use The Digital Camera You Just Bought" is on Amazon. But are they shooting with cameras or phones?
I gave my d5100 to one and another gets to use my d7200 on occasion —- but they also use phones. I want they to understand the basics. They both seem to have an eye for composition.

I would screen some youTube videos and choose a couple for them to try before buying a book. Not saying don't buy a book, but some videos will get them started and give you more knowledge in selecting books later? The voice of experience... if you'd like some used books on DR DOS or getting to know your Nikon D40X (or most any obsolete technology), I'm your guy. 😜

Unless they are really in to it, I can't see young teens reading any book on photography basics. Maybe your grandkids are different.

National Geographic's "Complete Photography." Nothing but the basics. No bullshit favorites. Compilation by many photographers, not just one person's opinion. The age bracket is incidental, it is written for all ages. The all-encompassing guide to photography.

Yes, that is a good one. I find it interesting that he has several editions. As they say, "The light keeps changing."

"Stunning Digital Photography" by Tony Northrup with many video links and access to their website as well. Many Youtube subject related training videos. Lot's of photos in the book.
Understanding Exposure is one of the best
