I am new to photography and would really appreciate some help with the best way to resize photos for placing them on the web - any help would be greatly appreciated. The programme I use is Elements 9. Thanks.
Elements 9 is excellent for resizing photos to display online. In brief, go to
FILE menu>Save for web
A before and after screen shows up, and like most functions on your computer, there are several ways to go about the task. Don't worry about experimenting with the settings; you can can cancel the function without ruining anything!
I usually use the JPEG-High preset, and if you press the small arrow button to the right, you can specify your preferred file size (some websites want you to keep your size under a certain number of kb). Alternatively. You can specify new pixel width/height or percentage of original image, so you have many choices.
BTW, for this website you don't need to worry about resizing something miraculous happens when you upload your photos and the come out the right size! Anyway, happy resizing.......
For sending images quickly via email, I love Picasa and how it works with Gmail. Just select your photos, and it resizes it just right for email. Best thing, its a free program. I have elements also, but never use it for sending email photos because it just is too many extra steps. I think it also works for other email programs, but haven't tried them. Just 'cause its free doesn't mean it isn't useful.
