I had to look it up. Been into Hi Fi/stereo and designing/building speakers and amps for over 60 years and never heard of it.

Do you wonder that the joke and, presumably, the point of the original post was not about the artists' names, the Columbia House Record offer, the obsolete recording formats, or even the number of albums you have to purchase?

One might be inclined to think it was about the "titles" of the albums underneath the artists' names. Did you read those? My favorites are Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Plummeting to Obscurity," Roger Eno's "Music for Shipping and Receiving Departments," and Queen's "Afternoon at the Free Clinic."

That said, gotta' believe this sorta' thing just isn't as much fun when you have to explain it.

After reading some responses and looking at the stacks a second time, I find one thing especially interesting. For the day and time, look at the media you could order those titles on! What is glaring, what is unusual for that time frame, Long Play Albums are not listed! In the days of 8-tracks, vinyl was still King!

It should have been the first you ordered

Never heard him sing but watched every episode at least 6 times. Always waited for Spock to calmly save the day.
(Loved that Vulcan nerve pinch)

My eyesight must be worse than I thought! All those fake titles, but I was going for the artists, not the album -- I could see the artists more clearly -- had to look a little harder at those titles. And maybe the inclusion of the music box is also a redo. I questioned why vinyl wasn't a medium they would ship in so it looks like someone replaced the vinyl option with the music box option.
