Giottos Rocket Air Blaster Medium Dust-Removal Tool (Black)
The rocket blaster is great for surface dust. Start with it.
A good 1” wide camel-hair brush or StaticMaster brush is my next choice.
For slides that have goo or fungus, Photosol PEC-12 film cleaner is the photo lab standard. Use it with one of their PEC Pads.
More info is in the attached PDF.

Make sure the software in your scanner has spot removal and other options. This makes a huge difference.
What is the emulsion side of a slide, the shiny side or the dull side? Thanks Jim Bianco, I am going to start cleaning them and copy them.

If you have a Mac running MacOS 10.15 or later, and your scanner came with software that uses Digital ICE from Applied Science Fiction, then you will not be able to run that software. Choose SilverFast 9 instead. It will use the same hardware in your scanner to remove dust. Epson supplies a link for a free download of it, which can be found on their support site.
So you’re saying that as a kid in math class, I was giving my teacher the emulsion side look?
