Memorial Day

I was driving slowly through the cemetery at Funks Grove in Illinois. I noticed all the flags marking the graves of veterans. And wondered why my vault, which I will share with my wife did not have a flag. Then it donned on me, I am not dead!

A big thanks to all those who served as well as their families. Without them where would we be!

May God bless all those who have served to help in providing freedom to our country and others. I will be further honoring our fallen heroes by attending the ceremonies at our local veteran cemetery on Monday.

Memorial Day comes to me, sorta:
The local parade goes by 1 1/2 blocks from my house and the old war birds from the the Chino CA "Planes of Fame" museum will probably be practicing Sat and Sun and flying over on their way to one memorial or another all day Mon. My house is 10 miles straight south of the airfield and our block has several pools which from the air makes a bright blue marker as a pivot point 1/2 way up the slope from the river/CA 91 Expressway to the Santa Ana Mtns for them to turn on to go back to Chino Airfield or east and west to various towns for fly-bys. I will have my cameras out for the passing planes. I have had them circle my house a few hundred feet above ground when they are practicing.

A pair of the local 122nd fighter wing, Blacksnakes, A10s frequently fly over our house almost weekly during practice. They are one neat looking air craft and have a very distinct sound.

it's good you remembered. That could have caused problems when you tried to cash in your life insurance.

It's nice to have something to remind you that you are not dead.

7 houses with pools on my block, 3 in a row on the south side, three in a row on the north side (mine is one) and one at the west end of the block. I makes a big blue cluster from the air, especially on sunny days.

Today is low mostly cloudy with some breaks. I can hear prop planes constantly, but haven't seen any through the breaks in the clouds. They are staying higher then usual because of those clouds. By sound I can tell they are more powerful than the little planes at the local airport and sometimes it is single planes, other times it is multiples.
