reading the EXIF on a MacBook Pro 2019

I downloaded a group of photos twice (I forgot I had already downloaded the same images the day before). Can someone explain to me how the exif shows the time difference being exactly one hour on the same images. Surely downloading the same images on two different days shouldn't change the EXIF on one set. They are identical images.

Why do you think there's an hour's difference? The 'original time / date' of both images is: 2017:12:01 17:58:41

If you see some other value, you should being your investigation there of why / how?

I must be blind. The 'Time Created' shows the same date but one hour difference. Somehow I must have seen the same thing in my mind when I opened them in 'Preview". Ignore my ignorance. Things like this makes me feel stupid.

Your probably seeing the times you downloaded. = time created time = time you downloaded twice. = about an hour apart?

Maybe, so I am going to watch the EXIF a lot more closely so I can learn what makes the changes in the EXIF.

I've found EXIF to be confusing at times. When I click on Properties, I'll see several dates - something like Taken, Modified, and ... They never seem quite right.

Yes, to me they are never quite right. When I modify an image it should reflect that modification under 'DATE MODIFIED' not 'DATE CREATED'. There should something that reflects 'DATE TAKEN'. IMHO

In the true spirit of UHH, I must say that I prefer the second image over the first. However both are excellent. Thanks for posting.
