The red-eared slider is a subspecies of the pond slider, cold-blooded semiaquatic turtles that leave the water to sunbathe to regulate their temperature. Red-eared sliders are native to the southern United States and northern Mexico, but have become established in other places because of pet releases, and have become an invasive species in many areas where they outcompete native species.
The season's goslings Geese fossils have been found ranging from 10 to 12 million years ago. Fossils found in the Gargano region of central Italy suggest the existence of a pre-historic relative of the goose, that stood one and a half meters tall. The evidence suggests the bird was flightless, unlike modern geese.

The season's goslings Geese like the Canada goose do not always migrate. Some members of the species only move south enough to ensure a supply of food and water. When European settlers came to America, the birds were seen as easy prey and were almost wiped out of the population. The species was reintroduced across the northern U.S. range and their population has been growing ever since.

Fabulous set, Paul. Especially love the goslings.
Thank you Earnest, 13, Mike, Jack, Joe, John! They had a memorial for Monty the piping plover earlier this week. He and his Rose used to nest maybe a mile or 2 north of North Pond.
Nice Paul. Especially like the turtles.
I always enjoy your photos as well as the information that you provide with them.
Thank you Jerry, Jack, Frank, Mark, Icecoach47! Happy Memorial Day!
