One of my favorite singers - Joe Williams

I was privileged to see him and sit in the first row of the Paramount in NYC in the early 50's. We were so close he was actually spitting saliva as he sang. Went with three friends and stayed in NYC for 4 days. It was our gift to ourselves after working 60 - 70 hours a week at our summer jobs. I was 15. We had a blast! Probably unheard of nowadays. We also made it to Birdland twice. I sure would like to relive that.

Mark, you were blessed to see the jazz greats in person at the iconic venues. Love Joe Williams.

Good stuff. One of my early introductions to jazz was the "Timex All Star Jazz Show" in the late 50's. Joe Williams was one of the great performers.

Thank you. In the 50's/60's, jazz was commonplace on TV. Nowadays, Youtube provides many artists and venues.
