Cahors, France in 1999
In the summer of 1999 my church Choir made a concert tour of Switzerland and France. One of the places we spent the night was the city of Cahors, France. Naturally, I had a camera with me and took pictures. Here are some selected photos from that visit. But first, a little background.
Cahors is a commune in the western part of Southern France. Nestled in a meander of the River Lot and surrounded by steep arid limestone hills, this historic city is home to a great monumental diversity, mainly inherited from Roman times and the Middle Ages; the city's monuments include a historic city centre, Saint-Étienne cathedral, Roman walls and the famous Valentré bridge (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). In driving through the city, we had opportunities to see many of those sights, and we also ate dinner there, with some time to walk around before taking our rest.
