Beware Autocorrect - you have been warned!

Man receives the following text message:

Hi Bob, This is Alan next door.

I have a confession to make.

I've been riddled with guilt these past few months and have been trying to pluck up the courage to tell you to your face, but I am at least now telling you in text as I can't live with myself a moment longer without you knowing.

The truth is I have been sharing your wife, day and night when you're not around.

In fact, probably more than you.

I haven't been getting it at home recently, but that's no excuse, I know.

The temptation was just too much.

I can no longer live with the guilt and I hope you will accept my sincerest apologies and forgive me.

It won't happen again.

Please suggest a fee for usage, and I'll pay you.

Regards, Alan.

Bob, feeling insulted and betrayed, grabbed his gun, and shot his neighbour dead.

He returned home where he poured himself a stiff drink and sat down on the sofa.

He took out his phone where he saw he has a subsequent message from his neighbor:

THE SECOND MESSAGE READS:

Hi Bob, This is Alan next door again. Sorry about the typo on my last text.

I expect you figured it out anyway, that you noticed that darned Autocorrect changed 'Wi-Fi' To 'Wife'.

Technology hey?

Regards, Alan.

Funny, that can be disastrous. I hate autocorrect. Have you ever had Facebook shift up a little as you are thinking, and you respond to something totally different ?

Good one, but when I saw the mention of a fee, I figured it was Wi-Fi. Autocorrect can be deadly. I've turned it off on some devices.

Reminds me of the young man in the military who received a letter from his mother. He sat down to read it and began crying loudly with huge sobs. A little after regaining his control, he re-eread the letter and began laughing uproariously. His friend noted the change and asked what was going on. The young man replied, My mother's handwriting is not the best. She wrote to tell me my favorite uncle had shot himself. But I'm not sure if she wrote that with an "O" or an "I".

Such a tragic ending for autocorrect.

I took a picture of my cousin, Lanna, while we were hiking and sent the picture to another cousin of mine. He texted back that llama is very photogenic. I texted him back that Lanna is not a llama. His reply was: Damn autocorrect.

There's not only autocorrect...but also there's voice interpretation. I typically use VOICE to create my text messages instead of typing on a cell phone. If I don't exactly use impeccable pronunciation, $H1+ happens. My wife's name is Joan, and more often than not, the VOICE interpreter writes it as John. A few times, I missed that prior to sending, and with that scenario, let your imagination wander!
