Very nicely caught RG. What a super photo-opportunity - and well done for being ready! We have a local attraction known as Blue Pool (an old clay pit) where it costs a fiver to enter but worth it for the views. I can get a similar shot there - but unfortunately the stag is a sculpture and has a sign propped against it telling you not to touch.

Thank you Dave. As I said earlier, all of my stag shots were taken from inside my car - which is a good idea because the deer will tolerate your presence to a surprising degree provided you stay inside your car. Preparation consisted of spotting them as I drove past, finding a place to turn (not that easy on a single track road) and returning with my window rolled down. Atmosphere-spoiling signs aren't a problem, and neither are glass-eyed stares.
