On my recent visit to Yellowstone National Park I was blessed with the opportunity to see numerous buffalo. Yes, I know some will insist on the name bison but they will always be a buffalo to me. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them and seeing these majestic creatures.

Nice shots! I really like the shot of the herd down by the river. And buffalo is a good name -- Bison Bill Cody just doesn't have the same ring!

Nice image. Technically they are Bison latifrons. The Buffalo Bisons are an American Football Team.

Great set! I know of water buffalo-had them all over the place in Vietnam. Thanx for sharing!

Thanks very much. I saw many buffalo that day but the time before that I only saw one and got no photo. They are ugly but impressive is an apt term for them. May we always have them somewhere near.

Thank you Bridges. I had that conversation with a friend just this afternoon. I grew up 80 miles from Buffalo, NY. Nobody ever called it Bison, NY. As you say, Bison Bill Cody just does not have the same ring to it. Whoever heard of a Bison Nickel?

And of course, had it been Bison, NY, then we would have Bison Wings and restaurants called Bison Wild Wings!
