camera strap recommendations?

I recently got the Canon SX50, and desperately need to change the strap. The strap completely interferes with the flip out screen. Has anyone ever used the Black Rapid RS4? It's around $50, so I didn't want to waste that much money if it wasn't any good. Anybody use that strap or one similar, or could recommend something else?

How does a starp interfere with an articulated screen.

I use these padded straps on all my cameras.

I'm using the strap that came with it (junk, but better than nothing) and when you flip the screen out,it pushes on the strap and you have to move the strap above or below to get it out of the way. If the strap puts any pressure on the screen, it will start to close and you must open it back up. You can snap the screen around so that it is open and fits snuggly against the back of the camera, but I'd rather close the screen to help protect it. I've found that I like to go back and forth between the screen and the viewfinder, and opening and closing is the quickest way.

I use a black rapid strap.
10 seconds after I put it on, I made a commitment to myself to never use anything else!

After a couple of years with 'normal' straps I got a Sun Sniper strap for my main camera. After trying this for a couple of minutes I turned around, went back and bought another for my second body - will never go back to a normal strap now :)

I doubt you'll find it a waste of money. But, if all possible, try one out and see how it feels for you. I use the RS4 and love it. Although it's slightly cheaper than the RS5 I still prefer it. There are other manufacturers of similar type straps, but do not go cheap - you're hanging a lot of expensive gear on it.
Camera straps are individual things, but I agree that the ones that come with your camera are rubbish.

Sun Sniper has been on my cameras for just over a year now and I have chucked my old around the neck straps. I highly recommend the Sun Sniper.

I use a homemade hand strap out of things I had around the house on my Canon. It was always hanging down and many times broke off daylily blooms.

I use an Op/Tech harness - its made to handle two cameras but I use it because it puts the weight on my shoulders not on my neck. Or, I can swing the camera for either my left or right hand.

Just got back from 15 days in Italy; while the OpTech Sling was way better than others I have used, after 8 to 10 hours a day of humping a 5D MkII w/ 24-105 lens, it did start to bother my shoulder.

I too prefer the OpTech Sling..........it hangs from the strap lugs on the camera, not from the tripod screw area.......

I use the black Rapid RS-5, but I wish I'd gone with the RS-4. The RS-5 has extra storage but it's not worth it. ( The phone pocket is too small and the extra storqage is a flat that adds bultk and just gets in the way.) I use the strap on my Canon 40D and a with modest sized 70-300 zoom.
I love the way it gets the camera out of your way but still accessible. It also is sooo much more comfortable than an around the neck strap. I do not worry at all about it being fastyened to the tripod screw.

I also got the RFH-1E0 Fastenr Tripod (FR-T1) which allows me to keep my tripod adapter plate on the camera.

You have 2 bodies? Nice. Is the second one a 25yr old with six-pack abs and can run a 6 minute mile? :-) :)

I personally use hands straps more so than the shoulder type...They secure from the tripod mount fitting & the strap lug on the side of the camera. It also has a tripod mount on the end that goes into the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera so it mounts quickly to a tripod or quick release plate...

OP/Tech has proven good for my cameras. I have different colors so I can tell the cameras apart quickly. For example, my D70 infrared has a red strap.
