We were near the Conowingo, spur of the moment, but I didn't have a camera with me. Only my phone. Of course there was lots of bird activity and all I could do was watch. The vultures however were having a staff meeting. I noticed that they always turn away from the camera (phone)

I was there today - the path along the Susquehanna was closed due to the Avian Flu which has taken the lives of about 40 vultures so far. No reported deaths of Eagles or other birds.

I had no idea. Vultures, especially Turkey Vultures are my wife's favorite large bird. We didn't plan to walk the trail, but there were some people fishing between the dam and the entrance. I'm a little limited as I just got a stent graft placed in my aorta. Back to normal in a couple more days

Vultures are interesting birds to photograph, especially the Black Vultures at Conowingo. They are far more social than their cousins, the Turkey Vulture, and quite a bit more photogenic.

I love the way they "air it out" with their wings.

Not too far from my home there is a ramp for interstate 76 and there is a large turkey vulture population that hangs out there. Several times I've used that ramp, the overhead light fixtures are covered with perching vultures, many of which have their wings spread. It's both cool and creepy driving through this local vulture hangout.
